COVID-19 Update

As we gather new information each day, we will continue to update our website with current information concerning COVID-19. Here is the update for week 5/25-5/31

Sunbury City Church Family,

As a church family, COVID-19 has brought us into uncharted territory. Just know that the church is here for you in any way possible. I know that in these times, it can be easy to feel uneasy, and even fearful, but trust in the sovereignty of God. Jesus is still ruling on the throne and in full control. We must open up our hearts and run to Him who will give us rest during this time. Remember the Word of God, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." (Psalm 46:1). Friend, hold fast to God during this time, allow Him to be your refuge because He is always present!

Each day we are receiving news on how to handle covid-19. As a church, we are not ignoring this information. The leaders are diligent in deciphering what the steps for Sunbury City Church as a whole are. Please look bellow from information concerning our weekly Sunday gathering and Missional Community.

Sunday Morning Gathering: Gathering as a church family is essential for Sunbury City Church. Scripture clearly communities the value of being in gospel community regularly. The author of Hebrews reminds us,

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Due to covid-19, unfortunately gathering in person will be unsafe and unwise. As we consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, our next best option is to gather via live stream. Therefore, we will thank the Lord for technology and gather virtually.

Sunday, May 24th, there will be no service in person. There will be a live stream on Facebook. Here is the link to our Facebook where the live stream will be taking place. Facebook Live Stream

Missional Community: Information from CDC, the White House, and the State are encouraging to not meet in groups and to maintain social distancing. There are many unknowns about the virus, but what we do know is that it is very contagious and spreads rapidly.  Following these protocols will hopefully slow down the spread of covid-19 and keep people safe. Due to this information from the CDC and governmental leaders, Missional Communities will not meet in person.

The church values and recognizes your desires for community. Although, we will not meet in person, each Missional Community will continue to gather virtually. Groups will be connecting via phone call or zoom meeting. Please contact your MC leader for more information concerning how you will be connecting this week.
