Sunday Gathering

New Here?

Whether you are curious about the Christian faith, new to the Christian faith, or even a seasoned Christian looking for a church home, we are so excited that you are checking us out.  Below you will find out what to expect on any given Sunday.

Our Service:

Sunday  |  10:30AM  |  St. Luke's Lutheran Church |  501 Catawissa Ave, Sunbury, PA.

Each week we gathering as a whole church family and as guests from all ages and walks of life to learn and grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ.  We come together to be reminded of and to remind others of the glorious hope we have in Jesus Christ.  We call this our Sunday Gathering because we believe that the church is people of God, not an event we attend, so we seek to gather as the church rather than simply go to a church.

What are the Services Like?

Our Sunday Gatherings, which typically last 75-80 minutes start with prayer and announcements concerning the church family before singing about our Savior Jesus Christ.  We then listen to a sermon from the Bible preached and applied in a way that connect with our daily lives. Following this, we invite our kids back into the service, to respond with us to the truths we've just heard by giving of our offering to the Lord and singing more songs of praise to God before closing our time in prayer once more.  All of this is done in order to encourage and equip us to live as God's missionary presence throughout the week.

What Should I Wear?

Because we have people from various ages and backgrounds, the kind of clothes people wear vary as well.  We have some who like to dress casual with t-shirt and shorts while others like to wear dress shirts and dress pants.  Wear what is comfortable to you.

Where Do I Go?

When you arrive at the church simply park in the parking lot next to the building and follow the signs to the front entrance on Catawissa Ave.  Right inside the door you will be greeted by our Welcome Team who will greet you and direct you to the sanctuary where we hold our Sunday Gathering service or to the KidSpace check-in area in the fellowship hall for your little ones.

What About My Kids?

Kids are important to us.  We believe they have value and worth and so we want to begin to train them in the ways of Jesus Christ even now.  Thus every Sunday children from infant through the end of 2nd grade are welcome to join our KidSpace program that offers safe, age appropriate, and relevant teaching about Jesus Christ.  For more information view our KidSpace page.

How Do I Connect?

We believe the best way to enjoy a church family is to connect to one.  Here are a few steps in order to connect more at Sunbury City Church.

STEP 1:  CONNECT

Connect with one of our Welcome Team Members in the foyer or go to our information table and fill out a connect card and drop it in the offering right after the sermon.

STEP 2:  MEET

Within a week of filling out a connect card one of our leaders will contact you and invite you either for coffee or a meal to simply get to know you and answer any questions you may have about God or Sunbury City Church.  This is an opportunity to get to know us in an informal setting.

STEP 3:  ENGAGE

With the help of a leader, engage in a missional community.  Missional Communities are the primary ministry at Sunbury City Church where men, women, and families gather to learn more about Christ, be equipped as a follower of Him, and sent out to share the good news of Jesus with others.  This is a great way for you to meet others at Sunbury City Church.

STEP 4:  JOIN

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ and would like to either know more about Sunbury City Church or call Sunbury City Church your church home, we invite you to partake in a membership class and begin the membership process.  If you have not been baptized after coming to faith in Jesus Christ (publicly declare your faith in Christ) we will invite you at this time to partake in one of our baptism services each year.  This step is the best way to fully invest yourself into the life of Sunbury City Church.

STEP 5:  SERVE

After becoming a member you will be asked to serve on a ministry team (KidSpace, Set Up, Welcome, Worship).  This is a great way to use your gifts for the kingdom of God.
